Well known and well respected businessman, Cyril Ramaphosa, has decided to enter the South African game breeding industry.

Ramaphosa says that what has attracted him to participate in the game breeding industry is that South Africa, through its active conservation efforts and vibrant game breeding industry, is becoming widely recognised as a leader in preserving and enhancing superior genetics of the rarer species of wildlife on the African continent, indeed the world.

“South Africa is uniquely positioned to capitalise on the tremendous opportunity that the game industry presents, if the industry is developed appropriately. Sustainable and inclusive wildlife breeding approaches will deliver economic value and preserve our wildlife heritage for generations to come” said Mr. Ramaphosa.

With a special combination of experience, at the highest level, in not only business and politics, but also stud cattle breeding, Mr. Ramaphosa is well placed to play a major role in shaping the future of the game industry in South Africa.

He has been involved, for a number of years now, in the breeding of stud cattle on his farm near Badplaas, Mpumalanga. His stud breeding activities include an exclusive stud herd of “Ankole” cattle originating from Uganda……. the only herd of its kind outside of Uganda.

“I am committed to making a difference by facilitating transformation in the South African game breeding industry and by contributing to the superior genetic pool through an active breeding programme. In so doing, by working together, we can take the industry to the next level” says Mr. Ramaphosa.

Mr. Ramaphosa has joined a pre-eminent association of South African game breeders, called “Stud Game Breeders”.

“I am happy to be joining Stud Game Breeders whom I believe have demonstrated leadership and best practice in the South African game industry” says Mr. Ramaphosa.

“I look forward to working with and getting the support of the members of SGB (Stud Game Breeders®) and other prominent players in the industry” ,he added.

Ramaphosa will be attending his inaugural Stud Game Breeders auction on 4 September 2010 at Bela Bela, Mbizi Lodge.

Chairman of SGB, Jacques Malan, and his fellow members are ecstatic about Cyril Ramaphosa’s joining of the association. “This is a tremendous step forward for the entire industry. Cyril is a true leader and visionary and we are proud and indeed privileged to have him as a member of Stud Game Breeders” said Malan.
